There was extensive research on materials used for passenger seats whether it be traveling by plane, rail or car. Even coach, business or first class seats were taken into consideration.

Some of the seat materials tested were: Natural and synthetic blends, various "Polys," different forms of vinyl and leather products, etc. Material textures and special coatings (i.e. Fire Retardant) were also addressed.

With regards to the adhesives and the actual headrest, many suppliers and countless combinations of materials were tested and re-tested by the TravelKleen staff to determine the best approach for all applications and to ensure that the consumer had the best product available.
